President's Message
SteveSteve Shinn GCP, UDCR
Homework Remodels

I would like to congratulate the members of the Board, Jetta and Katie Evans from Components Electronics Systems for their contributions to the successful creation of numerous fun educational opportunities for our members. Each of these opportunities is being developed to be fun and ultimately enable our members to use the information to become more profitable in their businesses.

Social Media Class:  Our first class has been a perfect example. Everyone has made great advances in their understanding of the value of the various social media opportunities. Greg Drejza has worked with each of us, giving the help we needed tailored to our experience level. Some of us were somewhat knowledgeable, and others were novices. Everyone has had a great time and a lot of laughs while we explored the mysteries of the social media online world.

Everyone has created their own LinkedIn, FaceBook, YouTube and Twitter page and the knowledge of how to use them to build our businesses. Greg has done a great job of making sense out of all these communication tools.

I think everyone who attended would recommend this class highly.  I believe that social media needs to be part of all of our ongoing marketing efforts. The best part is that it is something we can control ourselves, and it doesn't have the costs of traditional advertising. We will be announcing the schedule for the next class soon.

Sandler Sales Training: We are ready to launch a six session sales training course. If you attended either our meeting at Floor & Decor or the break-out session at the Pella Pro Expo, you may have heard Mark Tombs' insights into the world of salesmanship. Steve Deubel of Image Home Improvement and I have both signed up for Sandler's ongoing training program. I am very pleased with the results the training has brought to my company. He is able to conduct an interactive class while having fun and keeping everyone comfortable and engaged.

Mark is offering a special six part course on the Sandler Sales Training techniques. The class is designed to give you a working knowledge of Sandler's philosophy and techniques.

Memory Training:  Sean O'Neil of Memory Dynamics has agreed to do a 75 minute class on their memory techniques.  He did an amazing demonstration of how to remember random lists of items, to do lists, and most especially, names at our last meeting at Monterrey Tile. I was one of the numerous members who signed up for their two day memory techniques class. Luckily I remembered to go. The class was amazing and their techniques are easy to learn. The secret to personal success is practice. I am working on keeping up with practicing for the 21 days it takes to form lasting habits. I don't expect to be doing demonstrations like Sean but I am very happy with the results I am having at this point. Stay tuned for more details.

Don't pass up these opportunities to improve your performance and your business.

Thanks again to everyone who has contributed to ways for all NARI members to improve our businesses and enjoy more success.

Monterrey

Introduces Exclusive Marbella Stone

At the March NARI monthly business  meeting Lorraine Umphrey, General Manager at Monterrey Tile discussed the latest natural stone perfect for keeping pool decks much cooler than traditional methods including cool decking, flagstone, Cantera, slate and even travertine. Yet it is versatile and gorgeous for inside and outside decorative walls.

We were able to see first hand the uniqueness and beauty of the Marbella stone, with several pieces even having fossils imbedded in them. Imported exclusively from the Philippines, this stone is available in multiple finishes (brushed, honed, chiseled, fine cut, filled and unfilled).

Lorraine adds "the product can be 20 degrees cooler than traditional outdoor decking."  For more information, visit their showroom and see for yourself or call Lorraine at  (480) 855-9988.

Better yet, come in on Friday mornings and enjoy a hot cooked breakfast on the house!
