Floor and Decor
Hosts January 12 Chapter Meeting
Featuring Sharp Equity

Start off 2011 the right way by joining all your friends from NARI at Floor and Decor in Tempe. Floor and Decor has the LARGEST in stock selection of hard surface flooring and setting materials at the lowest prices, EVERYDAY. They pride themselves on everyday low pricing for everyone. Contractors, designers, employees and customers and if by chance there is a comparable tile less elsewhere, we will match that price.

Floor and Decor is the 3rd largest flooring retailer in the country and is the best kept secret in the valley. They are also the largest domestic purchaser of Travertine in the USA. Whether you are doing a residential or commercial remodel, a lower or higher end home, Floor and Decor has the selection you want at the price you deserve.

We welcome Mike Mahoney of Sharp Equity who is going to share with us the realities of the Maricopa County resale market including what the remodeling arena can expect with foreclosure sales. They are the leader in the "bid at auction" service and have been featured in the Wall Street Journal, on CNN and MSNBC and most recently in the Arizona Republic.

Seeing is believing. Heavy appetizer stations and drinks will be served so bring an employee, an associate, a guest and an hearty appetite and please, as a courtesy to our host, RSVP by Friday, January 7 at 3pm by "clicking here."
President's Message

Homework Remodels

I would like to welcome all of our members to 2011 and with you a happy and prosperous New Year. The good news is that many of us have seen encouraging signs that remodeling is taking a turn for the better as we move into the New Year.

My focus as this year's President of our association is to maintain the high quality leadership we have all benefited from over the years. We have a great resource in all of our Past Presidents on our Executive Committee. Our 2011 Chapter Officers and the Board of Directors have all demonstrated their enthusiasm and commitment for helping create value of our members and stability for our organization.

Our Chapter's leadership and I have agreed to set objectives to work closely with our membership. through our various committees, to create new opportunities for all of us to expand and strengthen our businesses. We are exploring numerous educational opportunities in all aspects of marketing and social networking. We are developing a multi-faceted blogging website that will be designed to bring additional business leads to local NARI members. We welcome any suggestions or contributions you may have to our efforts. We will be announcing opportunities as they develop.

Julie Cook, our 2010 Chapter President, has agreed to continue to take the lead in helping organize and promote our membership committees. Her organizational work with our committees in 2010 has truly been inspirational to me.

If you joined our NARI Chapter to improve your business, I would encourage you to find a committee that you can help by contributing a little time. Join our members that have discovered that this is the secret of how to gain the most benefit from your membership.

We are moving into a new era in the remodeling industry. I invite you to join us and to work together to learn how to adapt to today's business reality and continue to be the remodeling leaders of tomorrow.

Payroll Tax Cut to Boost Take Home Pay for Most Workers
contributed by  Lisa Novack - IRS.gov

The Internal Revenue Service has released instructions to help employers implement the 2011 cut in payroll taxes along with new income withholding tables that employers will use during 2011.

Millions of workers will see their take home pay rise during 2011 because the Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization and Job Creation Act of 2010 provides a tow percentage point payroll tax cut for employees, reducing their Social Security tax withholding rate from 6.2 to 4.2 percent of wages paid. This reduced Social Security withholding will have no effect on the employee's future Social Security benefits.

The new law also maintains the income tax rates that have been in effect in recent years.

Employers should start using the new withholding tables and reducing the amount of Social Security tax withheld as soon as  possible not not later than January 31, 2011.

Promote Products & Services

Via Table Tops

Want to promote your business at a NARI meeting but do not have the space to do so by hosting a meeting at your location? Worry no more. We are offering "Table Top" displays now at most of our meetings. Set up your display and then have 15 minutes to self promote at a meeting. Interested? Contact Jetta at (480) 419-1631.

Community Outreach & You
If you have a particular cause you would like the Association to participate in this year, than let us know. Without anyone at the helm of the Outreach Chair, we are looking to our members to tell us what ideas you have to support  good causes three or four times a year. If you would like to serve as Chair of this Committee that would be great as well.
