Volunteers Needed for NARI Home Show
Booth
Contact our Home Show Chair, Steve
Deubel of Image Home Improvement
or email him about about
volunteering for the next home show. Click on
email or contact him via Deubel@earthlink.net.
What's new about the Home Show?
Rene Smith, who runs the operation states
"homeowners know they are going to stay in their
home for at least the next 6 years, so they are
going to remodel the house to stay in it, meaning
they will spend money on quality home improvement
now because they will be the one enjoying it."
Be a part of it. We need volunteers to run
2-4 hour slots and distribute our directories to
interested consumers.

March 13, 2010. Registration takes place at
Stardust Building Supplies at 1720 W. Broadway
Road, Mesa, AZ 85202.
The ending location is at "The Hideaway" in
Cave Creek. Just $20 a rider includes lunch
t-shirt and ride pin.
There are raffle tickets for cash prizes and
miscellaneous items. For details contact
our angel, Dee at (480) 233-5108
or email: dee@anglesoncall.org.
Please contact her to donate new or gently
used building materials from cabinets to light
fixtures, windows to sinks and everything in

The Pella Pro Expo, held at Chase Field on
Thursday, Feb. 11th ended as a tremendous success
with over 325 attendees. Prizes, stadium tours,
education seminars and refreshments were enjoyed
by all who attended and our local NARI Chapter had
the opportunity to meet many potential members in
the remodeling community. We would like to
extend our deepest gratitude to each member who
attended and we look forward to hosting another
great event in 2011.

President's Message
Julie Cook Inside Out
etc. It is now March and the Greater Phoenix
NARI Chapter continues to be an exciting
organization to be part of. We have new
and exciting ideas and exciting people
delivering them. I feel like I should give
you an update on what happened in February and
what is proposed to happen this month and
beyond.
The Education Committee has really
stepped up to provide the opportunity for
contractors to participate in 2 more
classes of EPA mandated LEAD training.
This brings the training to 4 classes this far
and 3 more scheduled in March.
The Home Show Committee is busy preparing
to promote NARI at the Maricopa County Home Show
on March 5, 6 & 7 at Cardinal
Stadium. Not only is NARI going to
be promoted at the booth but there will be a
panel of NARI experts, each day, to field
questions from the public.
Look for "Ambassadors" at each meeting
to assist potential members with any questions
they might have or to just simply provide some
guidance for the evening.
The National Convention Committee is
more than busy with the preparations for the
April 7-10, 2010 NARI National
Convention. The Golf Committee is busy
preparing for the May Chapter Golf Tournament
and their is even a golf tournament tied to
the National Conference. See details in
the newsletter.
The Outreach Committee has a variety of
projects that we can all get behind to help our
community. Look for them in our
newsletters and at our monthly meetings.
We have a new Membership Committee
Chair so expect to hear some really wonderful
ideas on how to increase the numbers in our
chapter. So what do all of these
things have in common? All of these
committees, and the other committees not
mentioned, are made of 'Volunteers!" We
couldn't do any of these things without the
people who are willing to give some of their
time to their committee of choice.
With that said - "We Need You!"
We need you to help our Chapter continue to be
the dynamic organization specifically tailored
to people who work in the home improvement
industry. See you soon at the committee of
your choice.
Julie
Cook
Vice President, Inside Out etc.

Greater Phoenix NARI EPA
Lead Training - Sign up now!
March 22, 24 &
26, 2010
The EPA's Renovation,
Repair and Painting Rule will become fully
effective and enforceable on April 22, 2010. The
Rule applies to all "renovations,"
including many typical
remodeling activities, performed for
"compensation" in pre-1978 "target housing" and
pre-1978 "child-occupied facilities" when the
work will disturb paint, stain, shellac and
varnish that has not been tested and certified
as being lead free. NARI is offering these
classes for just $250 each. Classes will be held
at the Quality Inn in Phoenix and they are
filling up quickly as compliance is due. This
time, you will need to complete a credit card
form available thru the Chapter or send a
check at least a week prior. There are
NO payments at the door. Classes are filled on a
first come first payment received
basis.

We are
Phoenix Energy Products, also known as PEP
Solar.
We are an
Arizona based company dedicated to providing our
neighbors with total energy solutions designed
to meet your needs since 1978.
Our
President, Sean Monaghan and CEO Bonnie Katz are
both Arizona natives and together they drive our
state forward into the solar future with
Pride,
Excellence and
Performance.
With such an
abundance of sunshine, an average of 300 days,
Arizona is the perfect state for solar energy.
So how does it work?
Solar panels are part of
what's called Photvoltaic system. Photvoltaic
systems are solar energy systems that produce
electricity directly from sunlight via a process
called the Photvoltaic effect. 94% of all solar
panels are made from crystalline silicon, the
main materials used in the semiconductor
industry. PV modules generate current (DC)
electric electricity, which is then converted
into alternating (AC) electricity by passing the
current thru an inverter. The AC current can
then be used to power most home appliances.
Today, over 200,000 homes in
the US use some type of Photvoltaic technology
with more homes going solar every day. Isn't it
time that you joined the Soldiers of the Sun?

Protecting Small
Business
Federal Legislative
Alert
Small construction Employers Victims of
Unprecedented Government Mandate.
The
recently passed Senate healthcare bill
specifically mandates construction companies to
provide health insurance coverage or pay
penalties if they have more than five employees
and a payroll that exceeds $250,000.
Despite the rhetoric about
helping small business, the needs of small
employers were largely discarded, but this back
room deal to target small construction companies
and contractors a payoff to the unions is
by far one of the worst parts of Washington's
healthcare reform plan.
The narrowly-focused mandate is an
unprecedented assault on the construction
industry.
In an industry where the unemployment rate
is exceeding 22% and struggling to overcome
historic job losses, this is NOT the reform our
construction industry needs or can afford.
Targeting the construction industry puts our
entire economy at risk. And, make no mistake if
they do it to construction, they'll come after
another industry next.
