President's Message
Brian Puglisi CR
President, NY Design Build
Inc.
Dear Friends and
Colleagues:
The more we know
the more we are empowered!
The NARI
National fall business meeting was extremely
Informative and insightful and I would like to
share with you highlights from the
conference...
EPA Lead
Training Compliance The EPA's
lead rules will be in effect as of April 22,
2010. Any contractor working on a property built
prior to 1978 will require lead certification
training and required to follow the
procedures for lead abatement. The penalties for
non compliance will be $35,000.00 per instance
per day per project.
We will be
offering lead certification training at a
discounted rate to NARI Members and their
employees. We will also be offering training to
non NARI Members at a slightly higher rate. Your
subcontractors take advantage of these courses
that we will be offering. Attend a Chapter
meeting or read the newsletter for details on
certification in the weeks to come.
NARI
Partnerships We have many new
programs including partnerships with Skills USA,
CEDIA (Custom Electronics and Design
Association) and ASHI (The American Society of
Home Inspectors). Skills
USA is a non profit of more than
300,000 students preparing for careers in the
trades and technical vocations. This
program is designed to mentor young people
within the industry. CEDIA
is helping out with the lead training by
offering reduced rates for training to NARI
Chapters. We are checking if there is
specific Arizona additional legislation before
we proceed with booking training.
Volunteering
Volunteers are
always needed and APPRECIATED! We have the 2010
NARI National Spring meeting coming to Phoenix
in April. What a tremendous opportunity to
showcase our Chapter and our State. Want to
volunteer on the committee? Call the NARI
office.
We always need
talented members to help run our committees. The
more you put in to your chapter the more you get
out of your chapter. Join a committee meet
people develop relationships and get business.
A special
thanks to The Westar team for a great meeting
and to Ivan Kolesik Jr. for his stellar
presentation.

Reduce Your Overhead,
Improve Your Bottom
Line
If you could transfer all (or
most of) your employee administrative functions
-- payroll and tax functions, state
unemployment, risk & safety management,
claims management, benefits administration,
HR/employee compliance -- to just one company,
would it simplify this part of your
business?
If you had unlimited access
to experienced professionals in these
administrative areas, to help you and your
employees mange your business more efficiently
and reduce your overhead, would they be valuable
resources?
If you could add your
employees to a much larger group of employees
and save money on Worker's Compensation, medical
insurance, dental 401K and other benefits, would
you be curious?
Like most all business
owners, you have two businesses; your core
business that generates revenue and the business
of employee administration that does not.
Consolidated
Personnel Services (CPS) is a full
service PEO (Professional Employer Organization)
headquartered in Phoenix since 1993 and
a NARI member since April,
2009. They specialize in allowing
businesses to transfer the administrative
functions and liabilities that do not generate
revenue, so that companies can focus on the
areas that do produce. Their motto, Reduce
overhead - improve your bottom line.
You may have met Lee Goodman,
the Sales Manager at a couple of NARI meetings
or at the NARI golf outing -- where he claims he
shot a 150. He splits his time coaching his 8
year old son Jack's soccer team and
coaching adults (questionable) once a week for
the Phoenix Rugby Club. For info contact Lee at
lgoodman@cpslease.com or at
602-230-8940 or

NARI Outreach Efforts to Benefit
Vets
For the past year, NARI has
worked with Angels On Call on a variety of
projects. We are adding an additional approach
to changing people's lives. In the following
months, we would like to increase our network of
non-profit organizations to help assist them in
their missions.
For the month of November,
please bring in non-perishable food items and/or
personal hygiene items to the Chapter meeting.
We will have several boxes on hand to collect
these important donations. The proceeds benefit
our homeless vets at Madison Street Homeless
Shelter.
And a big Thank You to new
member Jeff Martino with Scalado
Construction helping Angels on Call
with a variety of important construction
projects.
If you have questions or
comments, please direct them to Dee, NARI's
Outreach Chair at (480) 233-5108.
